About the artist

Marina Ekelova is the artist behind ME Design. Marina is a Russian artist and lecturer with more than 30 years of experience. Having graduated from one of Russia’s most prestigious art academies, Mukhina Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Marina is well-versed in a variety of Russian traditional arts, history, and Russian culture. She has led multiple workshops with the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) museum and university, as well as universities and community centers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Marina is also the recipient of prestigious artist in resident grants from the state of Rhode Island.

Marina has a distinct ability to generate energy and enthusiasm in the audience and bring the rich fabric of traditional Russian art to life for children and adults of all ages. Through memorable and thought-provoking programs, and a variety of mediums, Marina hopes to inspires other artists to learn more about and experiment with traditional techniques .
